J.D. and Frances Covington

J.D. and Frances Covington, of Kennewick, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 19 with a reception at College View Baptist Church in Pasco where they are members.

They were married Dec. 19, 1950, on the campus of West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.

Frances was a physical education teacher for Pasco High School from 1968-94 and a girls coach for all sports for many years. She retired from the Pasco School District in 1994.

J.D. was a math, physical education teacher and football coach at Richland High School from 1968-94. when he retired.

They are also members of the Flathead Cherry Growers Associateion, and J.D. is a member of the Washington Football Coaches Hall of Fame and Central Washington Athletic Hall of Fame.

They have five children, Deborah (Mitch) Madison of Pasco; Sandra (John) Morgan of Pasco; Joe (Debbie) Covington of Pasco; Jennifer (Chris) Varnell of Moorpark, Calif.; and Jay (Jackie) Covington of Kennewick.

They have 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
