A pair of experts will speak Wednesday night during a drug and alcohol information session in Prosser.
The 6:30 p.m. session features Derek Franklin of the Washington Association for Substance Abuse & Violence Prevention and Mary Segawa of the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
It will include information on alcohol and marijuana laws, as well as negative effects of youth drug use and current trends and strategies for prevention, a news release said.
The event is at the Princess Theatre, 1228 Meade Ave.
Spanish interpretation will be available.
Free childcare at the Prosser Boys & Girls Club will be available for potty-trained children age 3 and older, with drop-off between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
The Prosser Community Involvement and Action coalition is coordinating the free event.
“We are working hard to educate the community about drugs and alcohol laws and effects, as well as prevention strategies, so that we can all help our youth stay alcohol and drug free,” said Jennifer Dorsett, the group’s community coordinator.
A similar event featuring Franklin and Segawa was planned Tuesday in Pasco, coordinated by the Pasco Discovery Coalition
