Lawrence leads Burbank by River View 29-7 (w/ gallery)

BURBANK -- Heath Lawrence threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead Columbia-Burbank to a 29-7 SCAC East victory against visiting River View on Friday.

"Our kids came out ready to play tonight," Coyotes coach Rich Harris said. "We had a great week of practice, best game we've played all year."

Indeed, the win lifted Burbank (1-1, 3-1) out of the league doldrums, and was River View's first loss overall (1-1, 3-1).

"They were pretty motivated," Harris said. "We hadn't beaten River View in seven years, is what I was told."

Lawrence's targets were Garret Long -- twice, on throws of 21 and 13 yards -- and Nathan Roberts on a 21-yard lob.

The Panthers scored in the first quarter thanks to a three-yard run on the part of Alonzo Mendoza. Mendoza also kicked the PAT.
