Walla Walla's Michael Gordon placed first overall in the men's division and Richland's Sarah Barkley took the top spot in the women's division in the Aquaman Duathlon on Friday evening at Howard Amon Park.
And it was a repeat performance for Gordon and Barkley, as they also beat the competition in last year's Aquaman.
Gordon finished the 2-mile run, half-mile swim and 3-mile run in 36 minutes, 33 seconds, topping his 2010 finish by a full minute.
Richland's Brandon Babiracki was second in the men's division with 37:04, and Yakima's Chad Trammell was third with 37:19.
Barkley clocked in at 42:28 to top her 2010 time of 44:43.
Buckley's Karen Leahy was second with 45:02, and Richland's Lori Bartol took third with 46:31.
Last year's second-place finisher among the men, Richland's Jeevan Philip, clocked in at 39:04 to take first in the age 13-19 division and sixth-place overall. Philip bettered his 2010 time by 51 seconds.
Kennewick's Jim Storton placed fourth overall out of a field of 150 registered participants with a time of 38:13, and Richland's Ryan Brown (fifth, 38:17), Kennewick's Brian Schur (seventh, 39:14), Hermiston's Jacob Puzey (eighth, 39:20) and Prosser's Kevin Gustafson (ninth, 41:23) along with Fabian Ruiz of Prosser (41:43) rounded out the top 10 placers.
Howard Amon Park will be the site of another multi-sport event at 9 a.m. today with the Titanium Man Jr. Triathlon, a swim-bike-run event for athletes ages 7-15.
