Zillah 26, Kiona-Benton 21

ZILLAH -- The Bears came oh-so-close to upsetting 8th-ranked Zillah in a regional playoff, but came up just short.

"We were really excited to come out and play so well," Ki-Be coach Charlie Hobbick said. "The kids did a fantastic job on defense."

Kiona-Benton (3-6) led 21-20 in the fourth quarter, but Zillah scored on a Robert Slack 2-yard run to take the lead.

The Bears got the ball back and moved from inside their own 15 down to the Zillah 30.

On a fourth-and-2 play, the Zillah defense sacked quarterback Matt Mason to virtually end the game.

"We drew up a running play and (Zillah) blitzed," Hobbick said. "They face-masked him and we were excited, thinking we had a first down, but they didn't call it. The Zillah side of the stands was quiet and ours was cheering, but they didn't call it.

Dalton Morgan rushed 22 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears and Mason had 103 yards on 23 carries with a touchdown in the loss.
