Local people, businesses and groups will be recognized for their positive effect on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at the Columbia Basin Rainbow Awards today.
The awards are part of Mid-Columbia Pride Week.
The 2010 award winners are:
-- Ally Award: Heidi Eiler of Pendleton for her 10 years providing HIV/AIDS education and support to people in Eastern Oregon and Washington.

-- Group Award: Ernie & Kaye Swartout of Ephrata for helping plan the first statewide Parents Family and Friends of Gays and Lesbians conference in Ephrata.
-- Individual Award: Brian Griffith of Pasco for leading a phone bank campaign to support Referendum 71 expanding domestic partnership rights in the state, and for raising thousands of dollars for GLBT organizations as drag queen Miss Gay Washington 2009-10 "Roxanne Von Cummings."
-- Over the Rainbow Award: Out and About nightclub in Pasco for being the site for fundraisers for various GLBT nonprofits and being a source of entertainment in the Columbia Basin.
The awards are at 6 p.m. at the Allenbaugh Farm, 219007 E. Finley Road, Kennewick.
