You Tubing with Fred, Leo and Merle

Anyone who isn’t yet convinced of just how profoundly the Internet has changed the world needs to check out our local candidates on You Tube.

Let’s face it, when Fred Staples, Merle Johnson and Leo Bowman are reaching out to voters via online video, the medium is no longer just an outlet for air guitar competitions.

Sure, the candidates for Benton County commissioner will never draw the audience of say, Erik Estrada getting tasered — viewed over 615,000 times — but this is a great resource for local voters trying to make educated decisions.

The videos were produced by Charter Cable as part of a voter education initiative — which features video from other local races. I’ll post additional links in the near future.

For now, check out the candidates for Benton County Board of Commissioners, Position 1:

Fred Staples

Leo Bowman

Merle Johnson

Sponsors include Charter, the Herald, Pasco Chamber of Commerce, Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce, West Richland Chamber of Commerce, Tri-City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Columbia Basin College Associated Students and the League of Women Voters.
