Last Friday’s story about the Kennewick Housing Authority destroying most of an elderly tenant’s garden struck a nerve with readers. On tomorrow’s Voices page, we'll run a group of their letters.
It's true, the Kennewick Police Department said less greenery would improved security, but readers seem unconvinced by the recommendation and outraged by the way it was handled.
We’re also running the editorial board's take on the issue tomorrow. Not to spoil the suspense, but housing officials bungled the situation. We also think it’s not too late to reach out and try to fix what’s broken.
Eunice Douglas has nurtured her garden for the past 21 years. She deserves more respect. We’ll be recommending the housing authority finds ways to show her some.
