The Battelle Film Club’s spring series opens Jan. 22 with 2007’s British version of Death at a Funeral. Don’t mistake this for the Americanized Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Danny Glover, Kevin Hart, Loretta Devine, Regina Hall version from 2010. Peter Dinklage — who is the story’s surprise — is in both.
Both are written by Dean Craig and the scripts are close to the same. What separates the two is how the directors tell the story. Former Muppet maestro Frank Oz (What about Bob?) does this one, and it stars British actors. The scene stealer is Alan Tudyk (Firefly), whose comic performance will have you rolling on the floor.
Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids, or $14 for all seven films. Admission is free for Washington State University Tri-Cities students. Tickets are available at the door. Non-English films are subtitled.
A reminder: The films show this year at 7:30 p.m. and not at 8 as in the past.
