Mr. Movie

2007's best movie 'Once' appears at Battelle

I picked Once as 2007’s best film.

It is the sweet story of an Irish street musician and his muse.

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova aren’t give names. In press materials, he’s referred to as “guy” and she’s “girl.”

Music is the connection and is what connects you to these two characters and to this movie. It is fabulous.

Hansard and Irglova are brilliant songwriters. Falling Slowly won 2007’s best song Oscar and is the best song in a film full of best songs.

Done for just $150,000 by John Carney, former musician turned director, Once proves you don’t need millions of dollars, big name actors and tons of special effects to make a great movie.

Even if you’ve already seen Once, it’s a film that deserves to be seen twice.

Mr. Movie rating: 5 stars
