Mr. Movie

'Stranger than Paradise' strangely entertaining

First of all, this black and white classic is not for everyone.

Some of you won’t get that there is nothing to get in Stranger than Paradise.

Jim Jarmusch’s (Broken Flowers) starts with Willie whose cousin Eva from Hungary visits for 10 days. Their friendship blossoms as the time goes on. Later, Willie and his friend Eddie travel to Cleveland to visit Eva, and then they all take a vacation to Florida.

That’s it.

How the movie is done is the attraction. And its appeal is only to those in love with unique cinema.

For us, Stranger than Paradise answers a strange question. Why is it that a film about people doing nothing is often more interesting than those about people doing something?
