Golshifteh Farahani (Exodus: Gods and Kings) is Sepideh. She invites Elly on a short holiday with her family and friends, and with a family friend who lives in Germany. Ever the matchmaker, she sees Elly marrying her friend.
While at the home they’ve rented along the coast, something bad happens to Elly.
About Elly is the movie Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi did before his Oscar-winning A Separation. He writes and directs this taut, intense and revealing drama that gives you a glimpse into the lives of everyday Iranians.
This one starts slow, but builds in intensity and purpose, and is on this critic’s not-to-be-missed list.
The Battelle Film Club in Richland will present About Elly as part of its fall film series.
Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids. A series ticket is $16.
