'Cable Bridge' photo receives top honors

David Wyatt of Kennewick received top honors in the Allied Arts Association's Summer Celebration juried show. Wyatt's dramatic aerial photograph Bright Under Cable Bridge was selected as Best of Show in a field of mixed-media entries submitted by members of Allied Arts.

This year's juror was Shelley Curtiss, a professional bronze sculptor from Joseph, Ore.

Curtiss said that the photo is "a spectacular photographic shot taken from an unusual perspective" and "perfectly balanced with understated color and elegant presentation." She also said "the excellent composition sparks an interest even from a far distance, which compels the viewer to examine the photo ever so closely with the thought, how in the world did he do that?"

Wyatt has been a pilot and resident of the Tri-Cities for more than 22 years and has owned and operated Loftics -- an aerial photography company -- for three years. He has been a member of Allied Arts Association since 2010.

He also won the association's Idelle Hultgren Award in the April juried show for his aerial photo Red Mountain.

The Allied Arts Association Summer Celebration exhibit runs through Aug. 10. The gallery is at 89 Lee Blvd., Richland, adjacent to Howard Amon Park.

Visitors can vote for the People's Choice Award, which will be announced at the end of the show.

Wyatt's online aerial photography galleries are at http://loftics.com.
