Sawyer Brown to rock Clover Island

With more than 30 years of music under their belts and 23 album releases, Sawyer Brown doesn't look to be slowing down.

Tri-City country fans can get ready to rock with the famous country band when the guys hit town for an outdoor concert July 22 in the parking lot at the Clover Island Inn Hotel in Kennewick.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and showtime's at 5:30 p.m.

Mark Blotz, general manager and co-owner of the Clover Island Inn, has been a Sawyer Brown fan for eons.

"I have absolutely loved Sawyer Brown music for years," Blotz said. "Many of their songs reminded me of growing up on a farm on a dirt road. Their songs are so meaningful and down to earth."

Sawyer Brown lead singer Mark Miller has a distinctive voice and an energy level that takes his audiences on wild musical ride, Blotz added.

"Last year, my wife and I drove to a fair in Oregon to see Sawyer Brown and I was totally amazed at the energy (Miller) displays on stage," Blotz said. "All the way home, I kept trying to think of a way to bring this band to the Tri-Cities.

"Call it luck or whatever, but they happened to be driving through our little slice of the Northwest, and my booking agent worked out a date that would allow the band to make a stop here on their tour. We are thrilled to bring this show to Clover Island. It's definitely a huge step for us."

Advance tickets to the show are $20 and are available at the hotel on Clover Island. Tickets at the gate will be $25.

Opening for Sawyer Brown will be Nuketown Cowboy at 5:30 p.m. Then after Sawyer Brown's show, Kate Turner will perform.
