The annual Tumbleweed Festival is Sept. 3-4 at Howard Amon Park in Richland.
But before the day of music, dancing, arts & crafts and workshops begin, there will be a young people's event Sept. 2 on the fingernail stage at the park.
The Youth Night features six local bands playing an acoustic mix of music. It's from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and admission is free.
The bands include: Silver Dollar Circus, an indie/alternative group; Aundria Murdoch and Lee Perez duo who play soft hip-hop; vocalist Kristen Carpenter; Dear Doris folk band; StaticBox, who play edgy rock and some classic rock; and Man of the Hour band, who play a mix of pop, rock, jazz, funk and fusion.
The rest of the Labor Day weekend festival includes daylong music and dancing, as well as musical workshops and plenty of food and craft booths.
Daytime festivities, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., are free.
Sept. 3 evening entertainment, which starts at 7 p.m., features Molly & Tenbrooks, Sky in the Road and Shanghaied on the Willamette. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
Sept. 4 evening festivities include a contra dance with caller Dan Clark and music by House Blend at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
