Got a car that's seen better days?Better yet, feel like unloading some road rage without hurting anyone?
Well then, head on over to Pasco on April 9 for a little bit of smash 'em, crash 'em fun at the Smash for Cash fundraising demo derby.
The fun starts at 7 p.m. at TRAC, off Interstate 182 at Road 68.
Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for kids 10 and younger in advance. Cost is $2 more at the door. VIP seating is available for $15 each. Tickets are available at the TRAC box office or at www.traconline.com.
Proceeds from the event go to four nonprofit organizations in the Tri-Cities: Camp Patriot, U.S. Troop Care Package, ACES and Time of Remembrance, all of which provide help and support to U.S. soldiers serving in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Anyone can enter the amateur division.
"No requirements other than a helmet and waiver," said Troy Woody, TRAC general manager. "Charity demo is amateur drivers in compact cars."
Winner of the race receives the honor of donating $1,200 to the charity of his or her choice, he added.
There will be five categories. Besides the amateur event, there are the Tuff Truck, '80s Class, Jump your Junk and Big Car demolition derbies.
The annual fundraiser is expected to see more than 1,500 fans, 10 charity cars taking part in the amateur event and about 15 newer cars ready to get smashed in the '80s Class and Jump your Junk divisions. The main event will have at least 20 cars of all kinds involved, Woody said.
If your ears can handle the screeching sound of steel slamming against steel, then Smash for Cash is the deal of the day.
