German cello quartet to play film classics in concert series

The film industry has come up with some fabulous music during the past decades, and you can listen to some of that music when Quattrocelli comes to town for the next Community Concerts of Tri-Cities event.

Quattrocelli is an ensemble of four cellists: Lukas Dreyer, Michael Peternek, Matthias Trück and Hartwig Christ.

Though the guys are all classically trained musicians, their repertoire lists all sorts of music from classical to jazz to Latin to film scores.

And just to keep things interesting, these tuxedoed gentlemen aren't timid about having some fun on stage, either.

"These musicians, trained in Germany, will astonish listeners by using their cellos as drums, guitars, and more," said Loren Schmid, with Community Concerts of Tri-Cities. "They deliver a captivating performance full of passion, imagination and magnificent surprises."

The group arranges and composes most of its own music. The sound the foursome creates is unique, simply because no other instrument in the violin family of stringed instruments can produce such a wide tonal range, Schmid said.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. March 10 in the auditorium at Faith Assembly Church, 1800 N. Road 72, Pasco. Admission is by season ticket to the concert series, or individual tickets are $20 adults, $10 students.

Tickets will be available at the door.
