Summer concert series set in Yakima

From to rock to blues, the Seasons Outdoor Summer Concert Series will provide a mix of music.

The concerts all begin at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Seasons Theatre in downtown Yakima and feature the Latin sounds of Michael Carlos on July 23 and Ellen Whyte Blues Band on Aug. 8.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door.

Carlos and his seven-piece band weave a melodic trail using several instruments, said Ellie Strosahl with the Seasons. Some of those instruments include piano, guitar, harmonica and accordion.

And when you blend enough instruments playing everything from Latin to blues and country to jazz, there's bound to be some serious toe-tapping in the audience.

The Michael Carlos Band got the title of northcentral Washington's favorite musician and band in a 2005 Wenatchee World newspaper poll.

The Ellen Whyte Band earned an honorable mention Grammy nod this year. Whyte holds up the vocal end of her band with a sound worthy of a soulful blues diva. She also happens to play a mean rhythm guitar.

The Seasons Performance Hall is a nonprofit organization committed to bringing jazz, Latin, world and classical music to Mid-Columbia music lovers, Strosahl said.

"As part of our mission, we program concerts every weekend enhancing Yakima's cultural art and music scene," she said.
