Idols for the holidays

There was one thing Kimberley Locke knew for sure when Christmas rolled around growing up: Someone from church would ask her to sing Mary Did You Know?

Tri-City fans of the American Idol finalist may also get to hear her belt out the Christmas classic when she performs Dec. 9 at Toyota Center in Kennewick.

She and three other stars from the TV juggernaut are putting on a show that promises plenty of holiday cheer.

"I'm excited about the tour," Locke said. "Along with a lot of people, Christmas is my favorite time of the year."

The Idols are expected to perform holiday tunes in solos, duets and ensembles. Locke also hopes to sing some original songs, she said.

The Tennessee native made Idol's final three during Season 2. She finished just behind runner-up Clay Aiken and that year's winner, Ruben Studdard.

Locke followed up the show with a handful of successful albums, including a Christmas album that's available on iTunes. She also appeared on the reality TV show Celebrity Fit Club last year.

The holiday tour stops just before Christmas. Locke will be joined by fellow Idol alums David Hernandez and Chikezie Eze from Season 7 and Diana DeGarmo from Season 3.

She doesn't know them well yet, but that'll change soon. Being with other Idols is a bit like reuniting with high school classmates because they have so much shared history in common, she said.

"It's just going to be a lot of fun," Locke said. "(People) will get to see a mix of Idols they haven't seen together before."

Even Simon Cowell couldn't give a "bah humbug" to that.
