Get set for a week of parades, music and more

Kicking off the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo events will be the annual fair parade, which starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 in downtown Kennewick.

The parade starts at the corner of Dayton Street and First Avenue, travels down First to Fruitland Street, turns right onto Fruitland then turns right again on Kennewick Avenue. At Auburn Street, the parade turns right again and ends at Sixth Avenue.

There also will be a kiddies parade starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 beginning at the fair's admission gate. The parade will wind through the fairgrounds.

New to the fair this year will be a rodeo run, freestyle MX motocross event and an appearance by Miss Rodeo America Amy Wilson.

The Demolition Derby starts at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the arena. Cost is $10 and the event is open to all ages.

The Freestyle Motocross event starts at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 in the arena. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for kids 6-12.

The fair is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 19-22 and from 9 a.m. to midnight Aug. 23.

Opening the main stage entertainment on Aug. 19 will be Chicago, followed by Gary Allan on Aug. 20, Loverboy on Aug. 21, Air Supply on Aug. 22 and Emerson Drive on Aug. 23. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. each night.

Performing on the Oak Street Stage at 6 p.m. Aug. 20-22 will be former Tri-Citian Jamie Buckley, who'll bring his 113th Army Band for an appearance at the fair.
