Members of the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail will celebrate Independence Day with wine tastings, blues bands and delicious food July 4-6.
On July 4, Silver Lake Winery will play host to the weekend's main event -- a wine and food pairing class, wine sampling, live music by the Hudson Rocket Band and a fireworks show from 7 to 11 p.m. Cost is $30 per person and tickets are limited.

Art walk, wine tasting
Enjoy an evening of wine, music, entertainment, art and food during Prosser's Art Walk and Wine Gala from 6 to 10 p.m. July 19. Stroll through Prosser's historic downtown, shop the work of 30 Northwest artists and craftsmen, sip vintages from 20 Prosser area wineries and enjoy the live jazz music of the Steve Haberman Quartet. This year's featured artist is bronze sculptor Tom McClelland.
Tickets are $10 per person and only a limited number are available.

Famous names in wine
Seven Washington wine industry pioneers will be honored at the annual Legends of Washington Wine Hall of Fame gala on July 12 at the Prosser Wine & Food Park, adjacent to Hogue Cellars.
The nominees for the hall of fame this year are Mike and Jerry Wallace, Stan Clarke, Ralph Leber, Charlie Hoppes, Mike Haddox and Wyatt Cone. They will be honored at the gala with special speakers telling the story of their contributions to the state's wine and grape-growing industry.
The festivities will begin with a reception sponsored by Anthony's Homeport restaurant with seafood appetizers paired with samples of vintages from six Washington wineries.
Cost is $125 per person or $850 for a table of eight (includes a bottle of the "Legends" blend). For reservations, call Debbie Toner at 509-947-1316.
Wine, food fair in Prosser
Looking ahead to summer fun? Plan to attend the 27th annual Prosser Wine & Food Fair on Aug. 9.
Thirty Washington wineries will be pouring samples of their vintages to sip while nibbling on gourmet fare from more than 20 food vendors. The event is held outdoors from 3 to 9 p.m. at Art Fiker Stadium in Prosser.
Advance tickets cost $20 per person and include a souvenir wine glass, a program and some scrip to get you started in finding your favorite wine and food matches. Additional scrip will be sold on the grounds.
