Free film festivals begin this month in Kennewick

Whenever free movies are offered, you can bet there'll be a flock of people showing up to watch.

Two free movie festivals are opening this month in the Tri-Cities.

U.S. Cellular's Movie Festival in the Park starts Saturday in Kennewick's Columbia Park.

Regal Entertainment's Family Film Festival begins June 24 at Columbia Mall 8 at Columbia Center in Kennewick.

The festival in the park also features various activities happening before the movie starts, so come early before the show starts at dusk.

Here's the schedule for Movie Festival in the Park, which will be shown on a big outdoor screen at the east end of the park near the Playground of Dreams.

Saturday: Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who (G).

June 21: Alvin and the Chipmunks (PG).

June 28: The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (PG).

July 5: Bee Movie (G).

July 12: Shrek the Third (PG).

July 19: Surf's Up (PG).

Aug. 2: Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (G).

Aug. 9: Nim's Island (PG).

Regal Entertainment Group's Free Family Film Festival is a popular nine-week event featuring movies for the whole family.

All movies start at 10 a.m.
