River of Fire promises Washington’s most ‘spectacular fireworks’ in Kennewick

Kennewick’s Columbia Park transforms into a daylong celebration of the 4th of July on Thursday.

The 2024 River of Fire kicks off at 2 p.m. when activities and food trucks open. Marimba, rock and Latin bands will perform until 9:45 p.m. on two stages.

The 2024 River of Fire is jointly sponsored by the city of Kennewick and VenuWorks, which runs the Three Rivers Convention Center complex.

Benton REA is sponsoring the fireworks show. The 18-minute display is expected to start at dark, about 10:05 p.m.

Admission to all events is free. Visitors are encouraged to use the Columbia Park entrance from the westbound lanes of Highway 240

Preparations will disrupt traffic along Columbia Park Trail through the park for two days.

The road will close between the Veteran’s Memorial roundabout and the East Boat Launch from 6 a.m., July 4, to midnight, July 5.

There will be no through access to vehicles during the closure and there will be no access from Edison Street between noon, July 4, and midnight, July 5.

Parking for people with disabilities will be available in the park’s 20-acre parking lot.

Event parking will be in both the parking lot and on grass. Staff will direct traffic throughout the day.

Vehicle access into the park will close at 9 p.m.

Sponsors include Gesa Credit Union, Benton PUD, Legends Casino, Seattle Children’s Hospital and Horse Heaven Clean Energy Center.
