No injuries reported after fire at Moses Lake plant

By the Herald staff

No one was injured and no chemicals were released in a fire that broke out Tuesday morning inside the REC Silicon plant two miles east of Moses Lake, officials said.

The fire was handled by the company's emergency fire brigade, but the Moses Lake Fire Department provided additional air tanks for the company's firefighters.

People who live near the plant received telephone messages informing them of the fire and telling them to stand by should the situation change.

REC Silicon produces silicon and wafers for solar applications.

Grant County Emergency Management officials monitored the fire and officials at the Washington Department of Ecology were alerted.
