Four hospitalized in Wallula Junction crash

By the Herald staff

An accident just after 4 p.m. Sunday involving four cars at Highway 12 and the Wallula Junction sent four people to area hospitals.

The Washington State Patrol reported that a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am driven by William J. Pryor, 79, of Milton-Freewater, Ore., pulled onto Highway 12 in front of a westbound 2004 Chevrolet driven by Ronley V. Larson, 48, of McMinnville, Ore., causing the Chevrolet to swerve and hit a 2006 Lincoln sedan driven by Diane M. Dawley, 62, of Touchet.

The Chevrolet continued and struck a 2008 Nissan Rogue driven by Dennis E. Fortney, 60, of Walla Walla, then caught fire.

Rescue crews took Dawley, Dennis Fortney and his passenger, Cheryl L. Fortney, 56, of Walla Walla, to St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

Larson was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, where he was treated and released.

William Pryor and his passenger, Martha Pryor, 93, were not injured.

The state patrol said failing to yield right of way caused the accident.
