The Braves (16-4) finished third in the Mid-Columbia Conference this season, behind Class 4A schools Chiawana and Walla Walla. They took the top seed to the Class 3A District 5/8 tournament, beating North Central (Spokane) and University to earn their third consecutive state tournament berth.
In 2011, Kamiakin entered the tournament 23-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state. The Braves were quickly eliminated, though, losing their first two games. In 2010, Kamiakin finished fifth, falling to eventual state champion Prairie in the semifinals.
