Want to make some Red Sox fans mad?
The popular Red Sox, and baseball, fan message board Sons of Sam Horn is holding a fundraiser to promote AIDs awareness in Tanzania through the charity Support for International Change (http://sichange.org/get-involved/sosh/)
Sons of Sam Horn is well known for its advanced stats push. SoSH, which can be found online at www.sonsofsamhor.net, is hoping to raise $40,000 to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser 78 Series Hardtop The top two donors get to choose one of the two photos that will adorn the Land Cruiser.
Here is the video about SoSH's involvement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4led0_nE0s&list=UUXW1bWukITQzaRAn8HtEy5A&index=1&feature=plcp
Never miss a local story.
So, all you Mariners fans, here is your chance to make up for that terrible trade Woody Woodward made, sending Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe to Boston for Heathcliff Slocumb.
I've been assured by the person running the fundraiser for SoSH that you can choose the photo, but it must be Red Sox related.
It must be "pleasant or ambiguous." It also apparently can't include Bill Buckner or Bucky Dent, but it could include a Red Sox with great mediocrity.
I'm already envisioning a photo of Nick Punto, Scott Fletcher, Dan Duquette or perhaps, Grady Little.
Anyway, as a Yankees fan I have many photos I'd love to adorn the Land Cruiser with. While I won't be giving one of the two biggest donations, I do plan on contributing to this worthy cause.
