The WIAA released the state basketball brackets Monday. Looks like Kamiakin will draw Seamount League champion Kennedy Catholic.
The Lancers are led by 6-5 do-it-all post Mitchell Penner, a two-time Seamount MVP, and from the looks of these highlights the Braves are going to have their hands full.
I remember having a conversation with Chad Herron early in the season about facing guys like that in the playoffs. He believed that with two solid post players — Zach En'Wezoh and Justin Pedley — Kamiakin will be better suited than most teams to defend and attack players like Penner, who can obviously dominate games.
From the attached clip, you can see Penner can shoot the 3 (at :52), work the low post moves (1:00), be fierce on the offensive glass (1:23) and defend and run the open court (1:43).
Never miss a local story.
I don't know how it's going to end, but I'm sure looking forward to seeing how En'Wezoh and Pedley handle a guy like Penner.
