Just wanted to point out that David Freese, who recently earned the World Series MVP award after driving in 21 RBIs in 18 postseason games for the St. Louis Cardinals, made his way through the Northwest League at one point.
I don't believe he ever made it to Tri-Cities to play against the Dust Devils — he played just 18 games for the Eugene Emeralds after he was a ninth-round draft choice by the San Diego Padres out of the University of South Alabama in 2006. But he was definitely in the league.
Last season, the San Francisco Giants had several players — Pablo Sandoval, Tim Lincecum, Buster Posey and Jonathan Sanchez among them — who got their start with Salem-Keizer.
So you never know who you might see on a given night. It's always worth a trip to the ballpark, because you might see something, or someone, special you might always remember.
