I just spent two weeks in September on a European vacation with my wife and in-laws.
Now that I’m back and getting caught up with things, it’s nice to reminisce. London and Paris were both wonderful. The people were friendly, and the food was great.
But getting sports information was a hassle.
Look, I had no phone, no computer, and the hotel TV did not have ESPN or the NFL package.
CNN actually had a World Sport half-hour show, but it showed soccer, rugby, soccer, U.S. Open tennis, more soccer, and then more soccer.
The day after the NFL Sunday openers, I anxiously awaited the NFL highlights and scores. What I got was Steelers-Ravens and Colts-Texans highlights and no other scores.
It took me two days to find the Seahawks score.
Now, don’t get me wrong. If someone asked me to go to Europe next week, I’d leave in a heartbeat. But I will never take ESPN for granted again. Ever.
