After Friday's sad news of Derek Boogaard's death, I have been seeking information to pass on.
Today, I came across a blog from the StarTribune in Minneapolis. The writer had spoken to Derek's brother Ryan, and noted the Boogaard family is donating Derek's brain to Boston University researchers. Read bout that here.
A link off the StarTribune site led me to the New York Post, which ran a story about Derek receiving counseling in a NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse & Behavioral Health Program. That story is here.
If Derek has issues, he was seeking help, and I applaud him for that. He touched a lot of people with his generosity, his teammates loved him and the hockey community will miss him dearly.
Never miss a local story.
