Did you know Washington is one of only nine states in the nation where high school football teams play more than one game per week?
The Class 2A CWAC teams will play Thursday, Nov. 4, then play crossover games the following Tuesday and then play in the first round of the playoffs the following weekend.
Seems crazy to me, mainly because it rewards teams with really good depth — which as we all know, is not always a given at the lower levels — and protects the higher seeds, which don’t have to play crossover games. Also, it seems like a potential injury risk to me, but I could be wrong.
The other states who play multiple times per week are: Connecticut, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Never miss a local story.
