When we arrived in Waterloo, Iowa, on Wednesday afternoon, the humidity was awful. When we left the next morning, I was wondering why I even bothered to fix my hair. Nothing has changed since then.
On our way to the Chicago suburb of Oswego, Ill., we stopped in at the Dan Gable Wrestling Institute and Hall of Fame in Waterloo, then it was small town USA the rest of the way.
We arrived in Oswego about 4 p.m. (that would be Central Time), had dinner at Scott's cousin Sue's house (she was Suzy until she got old and gray). I hadn't met most of is family before this trip, so there were a lot of new faces. I've since learned most of them, and a couple I'd like to forget (already).
Friday, we went to the Brookfield Zoo, which was very nice, but I still like the Calgary Zoo a bit more. Back to Sue's for more eats. There is a lot of food at these gatherings, but there have been some "old" family dishes that have been out on the table that I haven't been brave enough to try.
The humidity has been horrible every day we have been here. Today, which is Sunday, it is 85 degrees and it is raining. Monday, it is supposed to be 85 and sunshine. I'm sure the humidity will still be there, but it will hopefully be a perfect day for the Field Museum and the Cubs-Pirates game.
