Landon Donovan scored twice in under three minutes, David Beckham had a goal off a free kick, and the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Sporting Kansas City, 4-1, in Carson, Calif., on Saturday night.
Donovan converted a penalty kick in the 44th minute and added his MLS-high seventh goal in the 46th.
Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 64th minute and Beckham got on the board in the closing minutes with his first of the season from 30 yards out for the Galaxy (5-2-5)
At Earthquakes 3, Crew 0: Chris Wondolowski scored for the third time in four games to help San Jose (2-4-3) beat Columbus (3-2-4) for its first home victory of the season.
Steven Lenhart, acquired from Columbus before the season, scored his first goal for San Jose.
Dynamo 0, at Real Salt Lake 0: Real Salt Lake (5-1-1) struggled to find an offensive spark in its first game without injured midfielder Javier Morales, playing to a scoreless draw with Houston (3-3-4).
Morales was lost for at least four months after breaking and dislocating his ankle last week in a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA.
At Revolution 1, Whitecaps 0: Shalrie Joseph scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute and New England (3-3-4) beat expansion Vancouver (1-5-5).
New England ended a scoreless streak of 236 minutes after being shut out by Chivas USA and Colorado.
