Israel Gonzalez (Grandview) scored twice, and Uriel Mendoza (Prosser) added a goal and an assist as the Columbia Basin College men’s soccer team picked up 3-1 NWAC East victory over the Treasure Valley on Saturday in Pasco.
TVCC scored the game’s first goal, but CBC (5-0-0, 3-0-0 East) answered with three goals in a span of 10 minutes to take control of the game.
WALLA WALLA MEN 9, BLUE MOUNTAIN 1: Migueal Rodriguez had a hat trick, and Freddy Rodriguez (Hermiston) added two goals as the Warriors rolled to an NWAC East win over the visiting Timberwolves.
Jorge Llerenas (Chiawana) finished with one save for the Warriors (4-2-0, 1-1-0 East), and added an assist.
CBC WOMEN 1, TREASURE VALLEY 0: Jenelle Garza (Othello) made eight saves in goal and Elena Mendoza (Othello) finally broke through in the 87th minute to lift the host Hawks (4-0-2) past the Chukars (0-3-0) and extend their three-match winning streak.
Kaile Kauanui supplied the assist to Mendoza, who played just 23 minutes.
WALLA WALLA WOMEN 14, BLUE MOUNTAIN 0: Madison Brownell, Tate Kautzky (Richland) and Hailey Hill each found the back of the net twice and recorded an assist as the host Warriors steamrolled the Timberwolves.
Dominique Velazquez (Othello) picked up three assists and scored in the 41st minute. Danielle Dowd and Paige Kubista each played a half in goal for Walla Walla, but neither had to make a save to get the shutout.
CASCADE 8, CONNELL 0: The Eagles had a rough go on Saturday as Ashley Parton had a hat trick and two assists to pace the blowout for the visitors from Leavenworth.
The Kodiaks (4-0) have made it to the final weekend of the Class 1A state playoffs the past two years, and have not won a game by fewer than three goals this season.
Morgan Smith made 14 saves for Connell (2-1).
