YAKIMA -- Daniel Ortega returned the opening kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown, and Cascade champion Eisenhower cruised from there, leading 37-0 after three quarters en route to a CBBN crossover win over Pasco.

WAITSBURG -- Zach Bartlow accounted for two second-quarter TDs as Waitsburg-Prescott took a 20-7 halftime lead and improved to 4-1 in the Southeast 2B and 7-1 overall with a home victory over Pomeroy (2-3, 4-4).

ASOTIN -- Ryan Baumgart's 70-yard kickoff return following Asotin's final touchdown broke a 36-36 tie, and DeSales went on to upset the Panthers in Southeast 2B play.

ELLENSBURG -- Walla Walla senior Erica Burmood placed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.31) and 100 butterfly (1:01.61) prelims at the 4A district meet.

SELAH -- Devon Lind hauled in a short pass from Jeremy Cerrillo and bulled his way for a 33-yard TD with 2:25 to play, lifting No. 4 Othello to a 7-3 CWAC victory over Selah on Friday.

BURBANK -- Marc Albertson threw three touchdown passes and Royal rolled in an SCAC East finale in Burbank.

KENNEWICK -- After weeks of enduring frenetic finishes, the Kamiakin faithful finally got something Friday night they'd craved:

CLARKSTON -- Tri-Cities Prep won its first-ever boys district championship, putting five runners in the top nine to end St. John-Endicott's three-year title run.

Saturday's CBBN district championship between Kamiakin and Richland certainly won't be the first time the two teams have met to decide a district title.

The CBBN coaches predicted before the season a topsy-turvy league season, and they proved to be correct.

Hanford beat out both Eastmont and Wenatchee last Saturday to earn its first CBBN league title in nine years. The Falcons now move on to the CBBN 3A district meet starting Friday at Central Washington University.

The last time the 4A/3A Eastern Regional cross country races made a stop at Spokane's Wandermere Golf Course -- just two short years ago -- it was a memorable day for the Tri-City running scene.

ROYAL CITY -- Matt Hadley ran for 126 yards and three second-half touchdowns Friday night as No. 2 Connell pulled away to defeat sixth-ranked Royal 30-14 and clinch the SCAC East's top seed to the regional playoffs.

GRANDVIEW -- Jacob Massey rushed for 239 yards on 35 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Grandview to a CWAC win over Quincy.

RICHLAND -- Zach St. John ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns at Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia kept Liberty Christian winless in Southeast 2B play by beating the Patriots at Hanford High.

YAKIMA -- Brenton Griffith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Hanford to a Cascade Division win over West Valley and a sweep of the CBBN's other two 3A teams.

EAST WENATCHEE -- Joe Fuerst ran for 196 yards and two touchdowns as ninth-ranked Eisenhower completed an undefeated CBBN Cascade season.

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Faafialua Ena threw TD passes to Mike Royer and Riley Smith, but Hermiston let a 14-12 halftime lead slip away in nonleague play.
