KENNEWICK -- The Kamiakin, Southridge and Hanford gymnastics teams along with Richland junior and 2011 state 4A gymnastics veteran Carly Garland, the sole tumbler for the Bombers, will compete in the CBBN district championships at 6 p.m. today at Garland's Gym in Kennewick.
Pasco's Lonnie Hurley, center, has a shot to place at state this year along with some of his fellow senior Bulldog wrestlers. Hurley, who will compete today at 160 pounds at the CBBN 3A district tournament at Hanford, hopes his speed will help him succeed at the Mat Classic.
PASCO -- Lonnie Hurley has had a number of big moments in his Pasco wrestling career.
PASCO -- Alex Cuevas had eight points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists to lead Tri-Cities Prep to a 43-33 Southeast 2B home victory over WWVA.

Almost all seven seniors on the Kennewick basketball team have come from the 2009-10 team that finished 4-18. This year they are contenders for the CBBN 3A title and are one game behind a strong Kamiakin team, which Kennewick beat last week. Zach Bartlow and Dustin Wooderchak combined for 19 points, but it was freshman Chance Leroue who provided a big boost at the end of Waitsburg-Prescott's 51-44 upset win at home over second-ranked Dayton in Southeast 2B boys basketball play Monday night.
SUNNYSIDE -- Marissa Broersma scored nine points to pace six Sunnyside Christian players with at least six points, leading the Knights to a home win over Bickleton.
The Hanford fans were getting a little restless Monday night.
COLTON -- Colton made 13 shots from 3-point range, and Haley Moser led four players in double figures to lift the Wildcats to a 92-12 Southeast 1B win over visiting Touchet.
Kristin Potter had 19 points and Dionna Baker added 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Waitsburg-Prescott Cardinals girls basketbvall team to a Southeast 2B win at home, topping Dayton 55-35 on Monday.
BICKLETON -- Trevor Wagenaar led all scorers with 22 points and Brandon Broersma added 13 as Sunnyside Christian defeated host Bickleton 59-22 in a Greater Columbia 1B matchup.
YAKIMA -- Britney Pringle had 26 points and six steals to lead the Richland girls basketball team to a 51-34 CBBN 4A victory Saturday against Eisenhower.
CONNELL Matt Hadley's 16 points led the Connell boys basketball team to a stunning 32-29 victory in a SCAC East victory against visiting Kiona-Benton on Saturday.
KENNEWICK Bryce Leavitt was honored for his recent nomination to the McDonald's All-American High School basketball team a few minutes before Saturday's CBBN 3A contest at the Lions Den in Kennewick.
PASCO -- Delaney Hodgins scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Chiawana girls basketball team to a 56-46 CBBN 4A victory Saturday.
RICHLAND -- Peyton Radliff had 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals and was 8-for-9 from the field as the Richland boys basketball team hammered Eisenhower 83-31 in a CBBN 4A game Saturday.
MATTAWA -- Liliana Ramirez's 10 points helped the Wahluke girls basketball team defeat Royal 45-35 on Saturday in an SCAC East game.
Walla Walla's Russell Skorina wins the 100 breaststroke. Walla Walla High School played host to the final meet of the Columbia Basin Big Nine 4A/3A boys swim meet of the season, staged Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Whitman College's Harvey Pool. Hanford edged Wa-Hi 91-79 for the league title.
