A “Suddenly in Command Class” for boaters is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 13 in Richland by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The $25 class will cover what people who are not normally at the helm need to know should the captain become incapacitated. It will cover starting the engine, operating the shifter, basic boat handling, tying knots and operating the radio.
Participants should bring a sack lunch. The fee covers the cost of books and classroom supplies. The class will be held at the Ben Franklin Transit Building, 1000 Columbia Park Trail.
