International Migratory Bird Day will be celebrated May 9 with bird banding, guided bird walks, a live raptor program, children’s games and hay rides at the Toppenish National Wildlife Refuge.
Activities are planned 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., but the refuge is open sunrise to sunset. The bird banding demonstration and the first bird walk start at 8 a.m. The Raptor House Rehabilitation Center will show live hawks and owls at 10 a.m.
The refuge is at 21 Pumphouse Road, just a few miles south of Toppenish off of Highway 97. Binoculars are recommended.
