The Umatilla National Forest will begin spraying herbicides on weeds late this month and continue through October.
Most of the spraying will be spot application using truck sprayers, utility terrain vehicles and backpack sprayers, but some broadcast application is planned along selected roadsides.
The spraying will target leafy spurge, yellow starthistle, knapweed, medusahead, common crupina, Scotch thistle, sulphur cinquefoil and houndstongue, among other invasive plants.
Maps of planned treatment sites are posted at www.fs.usda.gov/umatilla. Click on “2015 Invasive Plant Treatments” on the right.
