RICHLAND, Wash. -- Anglers on the Hanford Reach of the Columbia River are being asked to fish for wild fall Chinook salmon to provide breeding stock for the Priest Rapids Hatchery.
More information will be provided at a meeting of the Tri-City chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association at 7 p.m. today at the Richland Shilo Inn.
Those participating are asked to preregister with the Washington Fish and Wildlife by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 545-2284.
The hatchery, operated by the Grant PUD, is hoping to collect 400 wild fish between Friday and Oct. 21. The wild fish will be collected from anglers at the Vernita boat launch, with Hanford's Washington River Protection Solutions providing money for the project.
