Tri-City Americans goalie Evan Sarthou, 16, was named to the 2014 U-18 U.S. Select Team, the team announced Wednesday.
Sarthou, from Black Diamond, will travel with the team to compete in teh Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup Aug. 11-16 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
He played in 16 games in his rookie season with the Americans, going 3-8-0-1 with a 4.07 gaa and .890 save percentage.
Also Wednesday, the Americans selected two 17-year-old forwards from Ufa, Russia — Semyon Krasheninnikov with their first pick (18th overall) and Vladislav Lukin with their second pick (78th overall) — in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
Krasheninnikov, a 6-foot-1, 172-pound right wing, scored three goals in 21 games to help lead Moscow CSKA Red Army to the MHL finals. Lukin, a 6-2, 185-pound right wing, scored 19 goals and had 53 points in 32 games for Salavat Yalaev of Group A of the Russian Championship (1997).
