KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-City Americans acquired 17-year-old defenseman Brodie Clowes from the Victoria Royals on Wednesday for a fifth-round pick in the 2014 Western Hockey League bantam draft.
Last season, Clowes played for the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, collecting one goal, 12 assists and 56 penalty minutes in 46 games.
Clowes, who is recovering from a training camp injury, will begin his rehabilitation in Tri-City. He is expected to miss the first month of the season.
"I watched Brodie play last season in the AJHL and became excited about his potential," Tri-City general manager Bob Tory said in a news release. "When he became available via trade, I felt this was a move necessary to fill a depth chart need for our club."
