Vladislav Namestnikov scored two of London’s five goals, leading the way in a 5-3 victory Saturday over defending Memorial Cup champion Saint John in front of 4,500 fans at the Bionest Centre in Shawinigan, Quebec.
Seth Griffith added a goal and two assists, and Max Domi and Austin Watson also scored for the Knights, who got 22 saves from Michael Houser.
Charles-Olivier Roussel had a goal and an assist for the Sea Dogs, who also got goals from Jonathan Huberdeau and Ryan Resink. Mathieu finished with 19 saves.
Action continues today, with London playing host Shawinigan, which lost to Edmonton 4-3 in the opening game of the tournament Friday.
