KENNEWICK -- Tri-City Americans rookie goalie Eric Comrie was chosen to play for Team Pacific in the upcoming U-17 Hockey Challenge from Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 in Windsor, Ontario.
"I found out yesterday (Monday)," Comrie said. "They called me after practice. This is a huge honor. I played for Team Alberta last year at the Canada Winter Games, but this is the biggest (tournament) so far."
Comrie follows in the footsteps of former Americans goalies Carey Price and Chris Driedger.
Price won a silver medal with Team Pacific in 2004, while Driedger played for Team West last year, finishing fifth out of 10 teams.
"He has had a good rookie season," Tri-City general manager Bob Tory said. "We are proud of him."
Comrie is 6-2-0-0 with a 3.29 goals against average.
