KELOWNA, British Columbia -- The Tri-City Americans twice rebounded from a three-goal deficit, but in the end, they couldn't catch the Kelowna Rockets.
Colton Sissons scored the game-winner at 12:33 of the second period, and the Rockets held on for a 4-3 victory before an announced sellout crowd of 6,021 at Prospera Place.
Trailing 4-1 entering the third period, Michal Plutnar wasted no time in cutting Kelowna's lead in half, taking a feed from Brendan Shinnimin in the high slot and beating Adam Brown for his second goal of the season at 1:18.
Zach Yuen, who had the Americans' lone goal in the second period, connected again at 9:01 on the power play, putting the puck over Brown's glove from the left circle to pull Tri-City within 4-3.
The Americans (3-2-0-0) outshot the Rockets (3-0-0-0) 10-3 in the third but were unable to even the score.
Shinnimin and Adam Hughesman each had two assists for Tri-City, which received 19 saves from Ty Rimmer.
Tyson Baillie, Spencer Main and Tyrell Goulbourne also scored to lead Kelowna. Brown finished with 29 saves for the Rockets.
The teams will face off again Friday night at Toyota Center.
