KENNEWICK -- The Tri-City Americans enter the final month of the WHL's regular season with 11 games remaining on the schedule, starting with tonight's game against Western Conference-leading Portland at Toyota Center.
The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. on the last meeting between the Winterhawks (42-17-0-3, 87 points) and Americans (37-20-2-2, 78 points) this season. The Ams are 5-3 against their U.S. Division rivals.
However, they'll still be missing goalie Drew Owsley (knee) and forwards Jordan Messier (shoulder) and Mason Wilgosh (knee).
Also, the status of forward Adam Hughesman, who leads the team in goals (39) and points (81) is unknown. Hughesman missed Sunday's shutout loss at Vancouver with a knee injury.
Never miss a local story.
All those injuries haven't helped Tri-City weather a rocky stretch. The Ams have won just once in their last six games.
The Americans are home again Friday against Everett before hitting the road for four straight. They will play four more at home before finishing the regular season March 20 at Seattle.
