The Portland Winterhawks got goals from five different players in a 5-3 Western Hockey League victory over the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
The Winterhawks (35-20-2-1, 73 points) took a 3-0 lead on a goal by Spencer Bennett 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the second period. Portland extended the lead to 5-1 later in the period before the Americans (39-14-0-2, 80) capped the scoring with goals by Justin Feser and Patrick Holland.
Drew Owsley started the game for Tri-City, but allowed three goals on 15 shots through the first 23:20. He was replaced by Alexander Pechurskiy.
The Americans will return to Toyota Center at 7:05 p.m. Friday to face the Chilliwack Bruins.
