KENNEWICK -- If you're going to Toyota Center for tonight's Colorado Ice-Tri-Cities Fever Indoor Football League game (7:05 p.m. kickoff), the first thing to do is watch the quarterbacks -- the Ice's David Knighton and the Fever's Houston Lillard.
"I think both quarterbacks are extremely talented," said Fever coach Adam Shackleford, whose team is 2-0 this season. "I think Knighton is worthy of probably more recognition than he gets. And Houston puts up a lot of numbers."
Ice coach Heron O'Neal agrees.
"You have two very exciting quarterbacks," O'Neal said.
Never miss a local story.
In fact, O'Neal isn't just impressed with Lillard. He likes what he sees with the Tri-Cities defense.
"Their defensive coordinator (Ryan Lingenfelder) has to be one of the top one or two defensive coordinators out there," O'Neal said. "I've watched the film, and his defense gets motivated off of his emotion.
"The (Fever) offense plays how Shack is," he added. "They're smooth."
Shackleford also likes the matchup between both team's lines.
"The big boys up front on both sides of the line will be a key," Shackleford said. "You'll probably see six of the best linemen in the league go at it each time. Outside of Sioux Falls and a couple of other teams, I think in our league we have some best linemen you'll see."
Finally, keep an eye on Fever wide receiver Steven White-head and Ice receiver Duane Brooks.
"They are not going to face each other, but they're bothteams' difference makers on offense. Whoever has a better game will help their team win," Shackleford said.
