When the HAPO Columbia Cup begins next Friday in Lampson Pits, the field will be the biggest this season on the H1 Unlimited tour.
H1 announced the official roster on Friday at 13 boats.
That’s five more than what Madison, Ind., had and what was at the APBA Gold Cup in Detroit last week.
The Columbia Cup field will include all eight teams who have competed in the season’s first races: the 1 Graham Trucking (J. Michael Kelly driving); the 6 Oberto (Jimmy Shane); the 7 Graham Trucking II (Cal Phipps); the 9 Les Schwab Tires - Team Red Dot (Jon Zimmerman); the 11 Peters & May (Tom Thompson); the 12 Miss DiJulio (Greg Hopp); the 21 GoFastTurnLeftRacing (Jamie Nilsen and Brian Perkins); and the 22 Ranch & Home presents Webster Racing (Mike Webster).
The 9 team is trying to rebuild the boat after it flipped last weekend, while the 11 team is trying to get its engines repaired.
Five other teams will be making their season debut next week.
They are: the 17 Our Gang Racing (Jeff Bernard); the 18 Bucket List Racing (Kelly Stocklin); the 37 Beacon Plumbing (Dave Villwock); the 96 Spirit of Qatar (Kip Brown); and the 100 Leland Unlimited (Dave Warren).
The 96 is a new boat that is just being finished by Erick Ellstrom and his team.
Also racing next weekend will be the Grand Prix hydroplanes, and the 1-Liter hydroplanes.
