Kip Brown drove the U-17 Miss Red Dot to another heat victory after suffering a shut down before the race started.
It also happened to Steve David and the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto too, as both boats, trolling on the Benton County side of the course before the 1-minute gun.
"I put my own fire out," said Brown. "It's rougher out there then when we tested. But I got it restarted and had to go outside."
David didn't have as good of luck.
Never miss a local story.
"We went down three times, and had to reignite it, reignite it," David said. "Something is causing the sponsons to be heavier. I had to catch as many boats as I could."
David was half a lap behind the rest of the field at the start. But the veteran caught everyone else in the field to finish second. It was a great piece of driving.
For Brown, it's two victories in two tries this weekend.
"We earned that one," said Brown. "That one was no gimme."
Brown gets 400 points, David gets 300, while JW Myers in the U-11 Stevenson Roofing presents Peters & May got third place and 225 points.
Jon Zimmerman earned 169 points in a fourth-place finish in the U-9 Miss VisitTRI-CITIES.com, and Brian Perkins got 127 points for fifth place in the U-21 Albert Lee Appliance.
UPDATE: We are receiving word that race officials are reviewing the heat. There's been some indication that perhaps David had another violation in the Oberto.
